PennDOT is partnered with the Pennsyvlania Department of Health, Gift of Life and Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE)
to promote organ and tissue donation awareness across Pennsylvania.
In efforts to continue supporting this mission, PennDOT has added a new feature to its list of online services. As of
July 17, 2006, Pennsylvanians, ages 18 and older, can add the organ donor designation to a valid driver's license or photo
identification card online, any time. Click here to add the
"Organ Donor" designation to your driver's license or photo ID card.
You still have the option of adding the "Organ Donor" designation when you visit any of PennDOT's Photo License Centers to get your photo taken for a driver's license or ID card.
Customers under the age of 18 are required to have consent of a parent or guardian and are therefore excluded from utilizing the online service.
There is no additional fee to have this designation placed on your driver's license or ID card when using the online service or at the time the photo is taken.
The "Organ Donor" designation cannot be removed from a driver's license or photo ID card online. To add (if not utilizing the online service) or remove the designation
before your license or photo ID card expires, you must fill out either form DL-80 for a non-commercial driver's license,
form DL-80CD for a commercial driver's license or form DL-54B
for a photo ID card and pay the required fee to receive an updated product.
You also have the opportunity to donate a dollar to the Governor Robert P. Casey Memorial Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Trust Fund
(formerly known as ODTF) with each motor vehicle, driver's license and photo ID card renewal. Donations can also be made at any time through the
Department of Health. For information regarding contributions to the trust fund, visit the
Department of Health or call 1-800-PA HEALTH.
